CDR Jack W. Boller -- 9/16/1964 - 4/21/1966  Charles E. Gurney -- Rear Admiral Ret. 

    She returns from her second WESPAC tour of duty to San Diego, California, 6 February 1965. The USS Lynde McCormick DDG-8 spends the remainder of the year conducting coastal exercises and successful competitive firing of her missiles.

    In July of 1965 she was awarded the Destroyer Squadron Seventeen Battle Efficiency E for her gunfire control system, and an ASW A for excellence in competitive anti submarine warfare exercises

    After a short midshipman's cruise to Hawaii, the USS Lynde McCormick DDG 8 was sent to the shipyard in Long Beach, California, for extensive repair and maintenance work was accomplished on the Tartar missile launcher and the engineering plant.
